After a three day event in which primarily high schoolers and college students ran laps around the state capital to raise awareness about a bill to end Raza Studies in a local high school district and open the way to ending multicultural curriculum, organizations like MeCHa and identity studies programs/departments across the state, the AZ State government decided to kill the bill. Even though the bill’s original author and sponsor withdrew the bill on the final day of protest, the Superintendent who has been behind multiple attempts to do away with Ethnic Studies and diversity organizations on school grounds, intends to support a new version of the bill next year. More info to come . . .
Thanks to all the readers who participated in the protests or helped spread the word about the bill.
